Jason Maddy 

I'm Jason Maddy, an AEA Actor, Educator, Director, and lifelong Student. I have been an Actor and Teacher for over 20 years after earning my Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have loved being on stage since I played the "Boy" in The Boy Who Cried Wolf in 5th grade, I got the part because I was completely off-book for the audition. Though I enjoyed it, I never considered it a future until I visited friends in a summer theatre class, before my senior year in high school, and was asked to step into a role. At 17 I was bitten by the bug and haven't been able to stop since. 

I was born in Burbank California and spent most of my life in Central to Southern California. I bounced around as a child, never finding a place I could consider "home". When I finally ventured out of California for graduate school to Illinois I saw a different world. There were"real" seasons changing, leaves evolving, snow falling, and a temperature that would freeze the hair on my face. In need of the California coast again, I returned to California after graduation and a summer stint at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. I started landing roles and making friends in San Diego County, where I discovered a Theatre Community that felt exciting to be a part of. After 18 years in San Diego, I feel like I can finally call someplace home.

Most of my time these days is spent supporting and guiding my students at the Performing Arts School where I head the Acting Program. I am an Actor at heart and always will be, but, my students challenge me in a way that keeps me inspired and growing. I found something special in sharing this art that I love so much with a younger generation that has the potential to change the face of the Theatre industry.
